PM FRAGRANCES: Interview with Founder and Perfumer Chavalia Dunlap-Mwamba

Chavalia discovered the power of scent at an early age even staying outside and enjoying natures’ fragrances. She earned the title of “Professional Sniffer” rightfully – as many times as she was caught sniffing couch cushions, etc. Because of that she can now create different fragrant notes and not miss a beat. Let us allow Chavalia take us on an olfactory journey of discovery with no boundaries. Let PM® play scent-music for you.

1. What inspired you to create PM®️ Fragrances?

I have always loved fine fragrance and noticed after a while, some of my favorites began causing adverse reactions. In speaking with countless individuals, I heard frequent complaints ranging from not being able to wear perfume or fragrance at all because it causes headaches, to having allergic and/or asthma-like reactions. I took it upon myself to research possible triggers and found that phthalates were a common culprit.

2. Can you tell us about the featured ingredients and the brand mission?

PM®️ Fragrances perfumes and room sprays are created with my proprietary, unique blend of essential oils, other natural essences and aroma chemicals but without the addition of phthalates.

Our mission is to provide a range of perfumes and fragrance products and scenting options that people can enjoy using without some of the negative side effects.

3. What is your favorite PM®️ Fragrances product and why?

My favorite PM Fragrances product is our essential oil rollerball blends (made by request).

As an educator, I am extremely passionate about children in public school education. Since a lot of students have been diagnosed with having attention deficit disorders and issues focusing, these blends are very dear to me, as they’re an additional and more natural way to promote concentration.

4. What beauty essentials do you carry with you on a daily basis?

I always have to have an assortment of lip balms, hand lotion, mascara and hand wipes with me at all times.

5. What does beauty mean to you?

Beauty is confidence within your own skin as well as sowing good into the world to help others find their true inner beauty.

6. What is your morning and evening beauty routine?

I wash my face with Garner’s Garden African black foaming soap and toner every morning followed by a facial serum (at night only.)

7. What’s your best beauty tip?

Always stay hydrated.

8. What’s next for PM®️ Fragrances?

We’re currently working with a vacation home rental on a bespoke fragrance project, and I hope to provide bespoke fragrance services for more businesses this year.
